Conduit COO Dominique Wells Featured in Healthcare Brew on Her Vision for Patient-Centered Care

Conduit Health Partners’ chief operating officer, Dominique Wells, was recently featured in Healthcare Brew in an article titled How this COO is trying to take nursing ‘back to the center of the patient journey.’”

Dominique Wells

In the article, Dominique reflects on her journey from starting her career “with a mop and a bucket” as a hospital housekeeper to becoming a nurse and, ultimately, stepping into the C-suite. Each step, she shares, has given her “a deeper sense of empathy for the people who keep our system running.”

As COO, Dominique oversees Conduit Health Partners’ nationwide team of 200+ remote nurses, along with sales, marketing and administrative staff. She describes her role as “mission control”—navigating the ever-changing health care industry, ensuring operational excellence and keeping nurses empowered to practice at the top of their license.

Overview:

Nursing Leadership: Bringing Nurses Back to the Center of the Patient Journey

Dominique highlights the most fulfilling aspect of her role: supporting nurses who provide comfort, reassurance and critical care when patients face uncertainty.

“Nurses form the foundation of optimal care delivery,” Dominique shares, “and I’m acutely focused on bringing nursing back to the center of the patient journey.”

AI in Healthcare: Unlocking the Potential of Agentic Nursing

Like much of the health care industry, Dominique sees artificial intelligence as a significant opportunity. But her perspective is uniquely nursing-centered.

She points to the concept of agentic nursing, where AI alleviates administrative burdens so nurses can focus more fully on direct patient care.

“If AI can address a lot of the administrative and documentation overload, nurses will be free to excel at what they were trained to do: care for patients,” she shares.

The Role of EHRs in Modern Care Delivery

Reflecting on the tools that enable this work, Dominique acknowledges that while electronic health records (EHRs) have had challenges, they’ve ultimately transformed care delivery and created a foundation for future innovation.

Conduit’s Commitment to Nurse-Led Care

At Conduit Health Partners, we’re inspired by Dominique’s leadership and vision. Her perspective shared in Healthcare Brew reinforces our mission as a nurse-led organization: connecting patients with health systems while ensuring nurses remain central to the patient experience.
